Stylewatch: Michelle Williams covers Marilyn Monroe in VOGUE

MICHELLE WILLIAMS AS ICONIC MARILYN

OK. The hair, makeup, bosom-y dress and vacant stare are pretty good. And it seems she did some serious research for the roll in the upcoming film, My Week With Marilyn, out in early Nov.

"I'd go to bed every night with a stack of books next to me," Williams tells Vogue in the latest cover story. "And I'd fall asleep to movies of her. It was like when you were a kid and you'd put a book under a pillow hoping you'd get it by osmosis."

Aww. She's adorably dorky! That kind of Marilyn Monroe crash course is definitely something Jen Lindley would have done. Brava.

While the look is pretty close, I already feel nervous about the acting. Marilyn is such a specific character, one I'm only vaguely familiar with thanks to reruns of E!'s The Anna Nicole Show (something I hope Michelle has looked into) -- that seems to include breathy speech and a constantly doe-eyed look. It's all a bit cringe worthy for a more serious actress.

But maybe that's just what the Marilyn character needs. Michelle is no slouch when it comes to acting, so there's that. I'm just going to hope for the best and judge further when the movie comes out no Netflix.

Do you think Michelle Williams is the right choice for the iconic sex kitten Marilyn Monroe?

Thursday Delectables: My GUACAMOLE RECIPE- Breakout the CHIPS!!

HOLY GUACAMOLE.....BATMAN!!

GUACAMOLE!!!!.........
This makes me happy. very happy.
What also makes me happy is seeing the expression on family's and friends faces when they dip in.  Truth be told, it’s how I make friends.
During the summer, I’ll make a big batch of this and my husband and I will sit out on the patio, drinking corona, eating chips and guac, laughing, something crying and dreaming [aloud]. It’s the little things in life.
This also brings me back to spending weekends at the beach-house with my family, my dad would get really excited and make his special [guac] recipe. We’d stand around the kitchen or sit outside watching the sunset, dipping into the guacamole and my home-made pico-di-gallo until we were practically scrapping the sides just to get every last bite. Such sweet memories.
What are some of your favorite memories??
Enjoy your guacamole on or with. . .
  • Chips [of course]
  • Tacos or fajitas
  • With your morning eggs, scrambled, over easy or fried!
  • On top of toast
  • In wraps with freshly diced tomatoes
  • with a spoon. . .
How do you eat guacamole?

Holy Guacamole Recipe
[Inspired by Barefoot Contessa]
PRINT Recipe
Ingredients
  • 4 ripe avocados, halved, seeded and peeled
  • 2 large limes, juiced
  • 6-8 dashes of Tabasco
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground pepper
  • 1/2 red onion, diced
  • 4-5 Campari Tomatoes, seeded and diced [regular tomatoes will also work]
  • Tortilla chips – gluten-free options available!
Directions
In a medium sized bowl, add [peeled and seeded] avocados, lime juice, Tabasco, minced garlic, salt + pepper. With a [potato] masher or the back of a fork, mash until you’ve reached the desired consistency – feel free to leave it more chunky or not so chunky. When you’re done mashing, fold in the diced onions and tomatoes.
If you can wait, I’d recommend placing the prepared guacamole in the fridge for about 45 minutes before serving. If you don’t mind it room temperature or you’re in a rush, you may eat immediately.
Enjoy!

Delicious Delectables: So Delicious Dairy Free Ice Cream REVIEW

SO DELICIOUS ICE CREAM - is SOOO GOOD

I have been looking for a low sugar ice cream like this for over an year! I was SO thrilled to find the So Delicious DAIRY FREE Coconut Milk Ice cream....in the freezer at my local Whole Foods. It's taste can hold its own against name brand ice cream like Edy's and Ben & Jerry's ..............Yippie!

They have a pretty delicious flavor and a bit of texture, that I love and no it doest really taste like coconut.

One 1/2 cup only has 1 gram of sugar and 17 grams of carbs as opposed to 16 grams of sugar that normal ice cream has. And get this...7 GRAMS OF FIBER! ......Cha-Ching. That gives it an S/C Value of 1/1, perfect for dessert. How does it get its sugar count so low without using artificial sweeteners? It relies on Sugar Alcohols, specifically erythritol, and stevia.

I encourage you to research sugar alcohols on your own by reading more on them. HERE is a good place to start. Please keep in mind that if you are on a low sugar diet or an ANTI-CANDIDA..diet.....that this should be eaten in moderation as well.......

Turtle Mountain, the creators of So Delicious products, have a store locator on their site. But they have several different products, so you aren't guaranteed that they will have this ice cream. They also have a Fudge Bar version of the Minis with an even better S/C Value and a few other ice creams I will be reviewing later. Be sure and check each product's nutrition label and pick their NO SUGAR ADDED options.

ENJOY YOUR LIFE AGAIN!

Delicious Delectables: My Quinoa BREAKFAST DELIGHT!

Breakfast QUINOA + Cinnamon & Berries = Healthy Morning

My bowl of comfort, right here.
Recently, it seems that Fall has arrived here in Georgia, but only from the hours of 9pm-10am, otherwise, it’s still summer. I’m not complaining, but I am ready to break out crockpot, buy some pumpkin and start prepping for the holidays. Who’s with me?.....Just kidding. So i was playing on the internet one morning and I found this recipe on another blog and i tried it and absolutely LOVE IT!!

I’ve been enjoying a big bowl of this warm breakfast quinoa with cinnamon, fresh picked blackberries [story below], toasted walnuts and then topped with shredded coconut. How does that not scream amazingness?! One of the many reasons I love quinoa is because it’s so versatile and works well with a wide range of ingredients. It’s also a [gluten-free] grain that can be enjoyed for either, breakfast, lunch, dinner OR dessert!

  • 2 cups fresh blackberries – or blueberries, raspberries, etc.
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/3 cup chopped walnuts, toasted
  • 3 teaspoons agave nectar – if avoiding sugar, you can substitute for stevia
  • 2-3 tablespoons shredded coconut
Directions

ICON TRIBUTE: Remembering Freddie Mercury - Lead Singer of 80's rockband QUEEN

HAPPY 65th BIRTHDAY FREDDIE
Best know as the outrageously flamboyant front man for the rock group QUEEN. Freddie Mercury was unquestionably one of the most talented singer-song writer's of the 20th century. Today we would be celebrating his 65th birthday.

Mercury fronted QUEEN through 18 albums and help make them one of the biggest selling rock groups in recording history.    In 1973, the band released their first self-titled album, but it took two more recordings for Queen’s music to really catch on. Their third record, Sheer Heart Attack (1974), featured their first hit, "Killer Queen," a song about a high-class call girl. The single hit No. 2 on the U.K. charts, and peaked at No. 12 in the U.S.

With a sound that has been described as a fusion of hard rock and glam rock, Queen had an even bigger hit the following year with their album, A Night at the Opera (1975). Mercury wrote the song "Bohemian Rhapsody," a seven-minute rock operetta, for the album. Overdubbing his voice, Mercury showed off his impressive four-octave vocal range on this innovative track. The song hit the top of the charts in Britain and became a Top 10 hit in the United States.

In addition to his talents as a singer and songwriter, Mercury was also a skilled showman. He knew how to entertain audiences and how to connect with them. He liked to wear costumes—often featuring skintight spandex—and strutted around the stage, encouraging fans to join in the fun. Artistic in nature, Mercury was also actively involved in designing the art for many of the group’s albums.

Queen's popularity continued to soar through the late 70s and early 80s. "We Are the Champions," off of News of the World (1978), became a Top 10 hit in the United States and in Britain. It was featured on a single with “We Will Rock You”—both songs have taken on a life of their own as popular anthems played at sporting events. Always exploring new and different sounds, Queen also tried their hand at the big music trend of the time, with the disco-flavored “Another Bites the Dust” in 1980. Off that same album, The Game (1980), Mercury and the rest of the band showed their range as performers with the rockabilly-influenced hit “Crazy Little Thing Called Love,” which Mercury penned.

Mercury's proverbial performance at 1985's Live Aid Concert has been judged rocks greatest ever and put the personally enigmatic Mercury on the list of the greatest singers of all time. How great he could of become remains a mystery. It was 1987 and an unknown disease was about to infect the world. A silent killer that would take the lives of many including the life of one of the greatest singers in rock history.
On November 23, 1991, Mercury released a statement: “I wish to confirm that I have been tested HIV positive and have AIDS. The next day Freddie Mercury passed.
